WordPress Comment Form Validation – A plugin every blogger needs

Posted by Digiblogger

Download WordPress Validation Plugin

I came across a simply magnificent plugin the other day as i was trying to find a better way of telling my users once they had posted a comment that they still needed to enter their email address, or that they didn’t enter enter a name, instead of redirecting them to a page with a one liner saying “Error,……”.

I was on the search for about one hour when i managed to get my hands on the plugin that solved all of my issues and more. I not only managed to get exactly what i wanted with the comment validation, but with this plugin i was able to increase the user friendliness of my blog. The page doesn’t need to refresh in order to show your latest comment posted, which means your users don’t have to wait to carry on blogging.

Here are the features of this plugin:

  • Very simple one click activation through admin > plugins (standard plugin activation)
  • Recycles 100% of existing comment template markup to work with any theme
  • Uses WordPress Plugin API exclusively; plays nice with other plugins
  • Comment form validation happens server-side without refreshing or leaving the page
  • Warnings appear gracefully in red directly above the comment form
  • AJAX spinner graphic looks great on any color/pattern background
  • Customizable CSS for every plugin-generated element
  • Includes geeky documentation for WordPress Hackers
  • Accept comments in any language thanks to built-in support for localization and multi-byte uni-code characters
  • jQuery fade effects make readers happy
  • Degrades gracefully in browsers without JavaScript enabled
  • 60-second server timeout ensures readers aren’t left hanging
  • Tested in current versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer (6 and 7), Opera, Netscape, and Safari

Aside from the features above this plugin as mentioned detected the fields that have not been correctly entered into the form and lets the user know in an instance. Needless to say a MUST have plugin to increase the user friendliness of your blog.

Digiblog has this plugin activated and you can test it by simply posting a comment on this blog.

Supports The following WordPress Versions

  1. 2.1 – 2.6
  2. WordPress MU 1.3
