How to disbale popups in Windows Vista

This is a one stop solution to all the annoying pop-ups you will find in Windows Vista. Normally you would simply turn off the individual applications balloon pop ups but there is a registry hack that will disable these pop ups for all applications.

Please Note: By applying this technique will no longer recieve the popups informing you that your virus definitions are out of date, or that your fire wall is turned off etc. I am not neccessarily recommending that every body turn this off, for the simple reasons mentioned above, but if you are like me you will want to turn these annoyances before long, so heres the guide to doing so.

Regsitry override for disabling popup in Windows Vista.

Open up regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box, and then browse down to the following key:

“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ Advanced”

Right-click on the right-hand pane, and create a new 32-bit DWORD with the following values:

Name: EnableBalloonTips
Value: 0

In order for this to completed you will actually need to restart your computer so that your settings can change. Until then you can still continue to use your computer as you normally would, but your Windows vista pop ups may still exist for the moment.

Hope this helps!
