How to optimize internet browsing with Internet Explorer on Windows XP / Window Vista

This tutorial will take you through how to speed up your internet explorer 6 or internet explorer 7 web browser by editing the registry of your computer to increase the number of available connections these browsers can use.

Your Windows registry hold vital information on how your computer should operate and specifics about your system and it is therefore very important that you backup your registry before you start, in the case that you may have a fault along the way.

Step 1: Click on your start menu and click on Run (shortcut: ‘Windows Key + R’).

Step 2: Type ‘regedit’ into the run field and hit the enter button. See below.

Step 3: Navigate to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings ‘ in your registry editor and click on the ‘InternetSettings’ folder.

Step 4: Locate the values ‘MaxConnectionsPerServer’ and ‘MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server’ and assign them the value of 6.

Step 5: If these values are not present in the right side of this window then right click on the white space select New > DWORD Value and enter ‘MaxConnectionsPerServer’ for the name of one and enter a value of 6. Do the same for ‘MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server’, also assign a value of 6. See Below.

Make changes as per below.

Step 6: Click ‘OK’ and close the registry down. You must restart in order for the settings to change.

You should now have successfully optimized your internet browsing through Internet Explorer.

Hope this helps! Your feedback and comments are welcome.
