5 GREAT tips to making more money with Google Adsense

Posted by Digiblogger

How to make more money with adsense.

Here are a few tips to help you out with making more money from Google adsense.

#1 Your Content

Pages with a lot of targeted content (Content targeted around your keywords) will have more relevant ads associated with it. Relevant ads will increase your Click through rate (CTR) … If i am looking for content about the “best car insurance” I wouldn’t click on an add that is totally off topic to what i am searching for. I am not interested at this point about the “best window cleaner”, so relevancy to your page is a must. I will admit this is not always an easy task, in fact i see many pages adsense ads that are not relevant to the content on the page. What happens behind the scenes is that Google scans your pages and from a compiled list i would assume they determine which ads in their database are the most relevant to your page. The more content Google can scan to get your keywords (which you have cleverly included many times) in your page, the more relevant ads you can target, and in turn you will make more money with Google adsense.

#2 Selecting high paying keywords.

As mentioned keywords on your page will determine the relevancy of the ads that show up on your page through Google adsense. As you are probably aware, Google adwords is the other end of the spectrum where advertisers want to get publicity on the internet by paying for ads to be displayed on the web. When a visitor click on an ad, money comes of their account and into Google’s account, then Google pays you a commission on that sale.

Some ads in adwords may only cost the advertiser between $0.05 – $0.09 per click which means that your revenue is not going to be very high, don’t forget you only get a commission of that, you would be lucky to get a couple of cents from that click. However there are some keywords that some advertising companies pay $50.00 + per click. simply because if you pay more, Google is likely to show your ads on the relevant websites. If you get a click on an ad that is worth $50.00 to Google, and you are getting a commission of that, you do the maths, at the same commission rate you will get a lot more $ for the clicks going out of your website.

#3 How do i find the highest paying keywords?

This tool here.. Google’s Cost Per Click Tool is normally used by the adwords advertisers, and what it does is show how much it would cost them to get a 1 – 3 position for that keyword. You as an adsense publisher can use this tool as well, you can determine roughly for the top 3 terms, how much revenue Google is making per click for the keywords you type in. From here you can find synonyms in your niche that will bring in the most revenue per click.

#4 Ad Positioning.

The chart below suggests the best position for your ads on a web page, this can vary depending on the surrounding content on your page. The darker the colour the more optimal position for your ads.

How to increase your revenue with adsense

Place ads above the fold of your page, i.e. so you don’t have to scroll down to see the ads. Ads that readers see before having to scroll are the ones that grab attention.

Providing some white space around your ad content can do wonders, think about the end user. They are probably not as savvy as you are with adsense and with using websites, (depending on the niche you are involved in). Placing ads in a way that once they have seen it they can find them back would be beneficial.

#5 Track your website

There are some things that don’t seem that important when trying to increaes your revenue with adsense and for that matter any other campaigns.

  • Tracking your visitors, make sure you find out where your visitors are coming from, if you are finding that some of your pages don’t get any traffic, well worst scenario is you have a bunch of dead-links on your pages, and therefore don’t get visitors to it. Aside from the obvious it does give interesting insight to where your visitors go when visiting your website. Google analytics would in my opinion, be the best tool for this.
  • Track your adsense with channels. Channels allow you to see which ads are being clicked. then you can determine which ads types and positions on your page, are being seen and more importantly increase your adsense revenue. This can help you on other pages, similar positions on other pages, may bring you better results all round.

Bonus tip: You probably won’t make much right away. Stick to it and don’t give up!
