5 steps to improving your search engine rankings and credibility
In the age of web-based, interactive communication a successful public relations campaign has to directly tap the end users. Search engines provide the best means for receiving reliable traffic to your website and broadcasting information over the internet. Better search engine rankings will increase the chances of your website being viewed by your visitors.
Many people are deceived into thinking that once you have a great title tag on your website, use keyword rich headings throughout your page, and create loads of content with keywords scattered around the page that you will receive credibility from the search engines. You couldn’t be further from the truth.
Even before your website is re-viewed by an SEO expert or yourself from an SEO standpoint, there are many things by which you can make the content search engine friendly but more importantly provide that content that can’t be found elsewhere.
A good search engine matches the people’s search requirements and provides searchers with the most relevant information available on the internet. Typically algorithms are written in such a way that the desired search result is retrieved in few seconds. You must be clear and detailed with your information to reach the most relevant audiences. Google wouldn’t be in its position as the best search engine if it lets webmasters simply keyword spam their headings and title tags to get to the top of the search results. At this stage, sites are still getting away with massive amounts of links to their websites, but the future of good search engine results is in the content and credibility of your website.
With the evolution of search engine algorithms from now into the future it is more and more important to provide quality content on your web pages.
Here are five steps to better credibility online:
Identifying your keywords: Search engines index the internet all the time, searching for keywords associated with the quality content that is available on the internet. These keywords must directly be related to the searching criteria and should not be used in your website to try and mislead the search engines and increase your website credibility unfaithfully. Compile a list of keywords that relate directly to your content. Select one or two words that you would use to find similar kind of information in your niche market and brainstorm for content around these phrases that will mean something to your audience.
Identify your purpose of writing what you are writing: Once you understand and are clear with the kind of information you want to provide to your readers (not the search engines), you have taken the first step toward getting more credibility online. Write your content with this purpose in mind from the beginning through to the end and you will be on your way to attracting great online credibility.
Constructing your Introduction: Like any report you have completed in the past it is necessary to provide introductory content to kick start your article or page information. Search engines have been known to track quite carefully what is said in the introduction of your opening paragraph, as with normal reports this outlines briefly what your page is going to be about. It would be wise to include your keywords once or twice throughout this introduction.
Optimizing your content for your readers and search engines: When optimizing your content make sure the keywords are mentioned once in your Main heading, a couple of times introductory paragraph (if is makes sense to your reader), once in you page title and a few instances throughout your body content. Forget about finishing every sentence with your keywords, your credibility will be compromised, maybe not by the search engines but definitely by your readers. You should effectively integrate your main messages and keywords into the top part of your content release. Typically search engines look closely at the 300 or so words that are present on the page. It is advisable to obviously include your keywords into your page title (as you would in a report) but, is it also important not to overload the title tags with your keywords. Words that are repeated too often are considered as spam by these search engines and in addition try to avoid repetition of your keywords more than three times in first half of your content release.
When you post the web content make sure the web page has both a meta keywords tag and a meta description tag, but do not repeat your keywords more than once in either of them. Your meta description tag is normally the description that you see in the search engine results pages under a link to a website. Maybe think of a sales pitch to grab attention of your audience instead of concentrating on your keywords. Remember the trick is creating content intended to help your readers or customers.
Building through authority websites: Once you have quality content targeted around your readers / customers you should probably seek a little publicity. By this I do not mean “Link Building”. Links from websites with authority will get you more credibility online, links from websites that have no credibility online, will not improve your credibility. A couple of authority websites your website should be added to:
If your content is valued by your readers, you will not have to worry too much about getting great links to your website. Follow this rule of thumb: If you create something worth linking to, people will link to it. It is that simple.
Follow these steps wisely, and remember not to create content for the search results, create content for your readers, and the search results will follow.

When I’m trying to find purpose with my writing, I like to explain to potential customers what I could do for them if they were to employ my services, but not necessarily explain the technique I would use.
I try to explain the topic in a practical way, synonym words would be scattered naturally, finally I would add my keywords in strategic places, a couple of times in the first paragraph, once near the bottom of page and once or twice elsewhere.
These are some useful strategies but I would add the need to not forget about social networking, the true reasoning behind this is that you want unique visitors to come and visit your site, whether the site ranks high on the search engines is another matter, but unique visitors that actually want to see your content is much more valuable, but perhaps they go hand in hand.
You are probably quite right.
